Description

Lebanese musician Paul Mutar. Side A of the tape includes songs inspired by animal characters, while Side B was intended to contain instrumental versions without lyrics. A companion book was planned, to include the lyrics of each song alongside illustrations, as well as drawings of the musical instruments used. The songs were written by Dr. Maḥjūb ʿUmar — the pseudonym of Raʾūf Nazmī Mikhāʾīl ʿAbd al-Malik Ṣalīb — an Egyptian physician, poet, intellectual, and political activist. He was a member of the Egyptian Communist Party in the 1950s and later joined the Palestinian resistance in Jordan and Lebanon in the late 1960s. The music was composed and performed by Paul Mutar, and the cover design and art direction were executed by Mohieddine Ellabbad. The project was never completed due to the outbreak of war in Lebanon.
